Straight answers, before you ever commit to anything.
Everything business owners ask about Strategic Tax Minimization™, working together, and dealing with the IRS.
Getting Started
How do I know if I'm a good fit?
If you're a business owner making decent money and you're tired of giving too much of it away, it's worth a conversation. During your Tax Savings Check-Up, we'll give you an honest answer, including if we don't think we can create meaningful value for you.
Will I have to switch accountants?
No. Most clients keep their existing CPA or bookkeeper for day-to-day work, and we focus on strategy. If we ever think you'd be better served making a change, we'll say so directly, but that's the exception, not the rule.
What information will you need from me?
Typically, your most recent tax return, current financials, and a short intake form. We'll walk you through exactly what's needed before your first meeting.
What if my business is just getting started?
Early-stage businesses often have the most to gain from getting entity structure and tax strategy right from day one, before habits and paperwork pile up. We're glad to talk regardless of how new you are.
Do you offer a free consultation, or does it cost something to talk?
We start with a free Right Fit Call, a no-cost, no-obligation conversation to see whether tax savings and Strategic Tax Minimization™ is something we can genuinely help you with. There's nothing to pay just to talk.
Tax Planning
Do you provide year-round tax planning, or only prepare tax returns?
Year-round. Strategic Tax Minimization™ planning happens throughout the year, not just once at filing time, so you're not hearing from us only in April.
When should we begin tax planning?
As early in the year as possible. Many of the decisions that reduce your tax bill have to happen before December 31, once the year closes, those opportunities close with it.
Why don't more CPAs do this kind of tax planning?
Tax preparation and tax planning are two different disciplines. Preparing a return is mostly about accurately reporting what already happened. Strategic Tax Minimization™ is proactive work performed throughout the year, before the numbers are fixed, it takes a different process and timeline than compliance work, which is what most practices are built around.
How long does the Strategic Tax Minimization™ process take?
Usually two to four weeks, depending on how quickly we gather your information. Once we have everything, your plan comes together quickly.
How quickly can I expect to see results?
Many clients begin seeing results within their first tax year. Because every business is different, we'll give you a realistic expectation for your situation during your Tax Savings Check-Up, rather than a general timeline.
I've never done tax planning before, is it complicated?
Not the way we do it. We keep it simple, clear, and actionable, so you understand the strategy and see exactly how it helps you.
What happens after my Strategic Tax Minimization™ engagement is completed?
Your plan doesn't end when the engagement does. We continue monitoring it and, depending on your ongoing service level, adjust it as your business, income, and the tax law change throughout the year.
Working Together
Can you guarantee you'll save me money?
No ethical CPA can guarantee tax savings before reviewing your specific situation, and if anyone tells you otherwise, that's worth a second look. What we can promise is that every recommendation is grounded in your facts and current tax law, and we'll walk you through our estimated savings during your Tax Savings Check-Up before you commit to anything.
How much does the Strategic Tax Minimization™ engagement cost?
We offer flat-fee strategic packages and monthly subscription plans, depending on your needs. During your Tax Savings Check-Up, we'll walk through the scope and investment for your situation before any work begins, no hourly clock, no surprises.
Will implementing these strategies create more work for me?
We aim to keep it manageable. Most of the heavy lifting, research, analysis, documentation, happens on our end. You'll be looped in for decisions that matter, not buried in paperwork.
How often will we meet during the year?
That depends on the package you choose, typically quarterly or semi-annually, with access in between for questions, updates, and support.
Will you prepare my tax returns too?
Both are available. Some clients want strategy only; most want us to handle everything from planning through filing. It's your choice.
Do you work with clients outside Texas?
Yes, we work with clients nationwide. As a CPA, Larry is licensed to serve clients across the U.S., and Strategic Tax Minimization™ strategies apply regardless of which state you're in.
Do you offer bookkeeping or financial statement services?
Our focus is tax strategy and Strategic Tax Minimization™, but we're glad to coordinate with your bookkeeper or recommend one if you need it.
Can you work with me if I'm behind on my taxes?
Yes. We've helped many clients get caught up. It's better to start now than not at all, and we won't judge where you're starting from.
Can you help me amend a past tax return if I've overpaid?
Yes. If we uncover missed deductions or costly mistakes on a prior return, we can look at amending it.
Is my financial information kept confidential?
Yes. Your financial and tax information is kept strictly confidential and is never shared without your permission, consistent with the professional standards CPAs are held to.
